Periodontal Services with Dr. Harper
On any visit with us, Dr. Harper will evaluate your oral health to detect signs of gum disease. Periodontal disease can be very destructive, so we must stay vigilant to watch for signs of infection. The good news is that if caught early, periodontal disease can be effectively treated and controlled with several procedures, including:
An ongoing maintenance cleaning program for those with gum disease, periodontal maintenance begins after treatment for the infection has occurred. Special attention is paid to monitoring periodontal pocket depths and stopping the progression of the condition.
Scaling and Root Planing
This nonsurgical procedure removes plaque and tartar deposits from above and below the gum line. Roots are smoothed to promote reattachment of healthy gum tissue. Locally administered antibiotics may be used as well to further promote healing. This procedure is most effective when gum disease is caught early.
We can correct areas of bone loss resulting from periodontal disease using your own grafted bone tissue, restoring your bone (socket) levels. Bone grafting can also enable tooth replacement with a dental implant if desired.
